Attendance apps for Jeddah's branches, hotels, port teams and seasonal staff.

Employee attendance app development Jeddah companies need is shaped by a city that never keeps one rhythm. Retail and restaurant chains run branches from Al Balad to the northern districts, hotels staff up for Umrah peaks, port and airport teams work around the clock, and Ramadan turns the working day upside down. We build attendance apps that handle split and overnight shifts, staff who move between branches, and short term hires for busy seasons, in Arabic and English.

The goal is simple: every manager in every branch sees who is on shift now, who is late and who is covering, and head office closes the month from the same record without chasing paper rosters across the city. Branch managers get back the time they now spend on phone calls about who is coming in.

Built for
Retail and restaurant chains, hotel groups, logistics firms near the port and airport, clinics and factories in the Jeddah industrial cities, and employers with branches in Makkah and Madinah.
Typical timeline
Set when discovery closes, after the branch list, shift templates, seasonal rules and payroll format for the first release have been agreed in writing.
What you own
All source code, the app store listings, the branch and head office dashboards, and the attendance data itself, stored in accounts your company owns.

Features for a multi branch city

Built for shifts that cross midnight and staff who cross the city.

Jeddah employers tend to run many small sites rather than one big one. A coffee chain may have outlets along the Corniche, in Tahlia Street malls and on the road to the airport. A hotel group may run properties near the Corniche and in Makkah, with staff travelling between them by the Haramain train. Shift patterns change with the seasons: longer evening hours in summer, night trading in Ramadan, and extra staff for Umrah peaks and Jeddah Season events. The capabilities below are chosen for those conditions. We do not suggest building all of them at once. Discovery tells us which problems cost you most today, usually late arrivals at busy branches or overtime nobody approved, and the first release starts there. Everything else waits for the second release, when real usage from your own branches tells us what managers reach for and what they ignore.

Explain your project
  • Branch geofences across the city

Each branch, hotel or warehouse gets its own boundary, sized for the building, so a clock in from the car park of the wrong mall is rejected. Managers see a live board of every branch with staff on shift, expected and missing. Mall branches with weak indoor signal can use a counter tablet instead.

Head office sees every branch's staffing at a glance.

  • Split and overnight shifts

Restaurant and retail staff often work a morning block and an evening block, and Ramadan night trading runs past midnight. The app treats a shift that starts one day and ends the next as one shift, and counts the gap in a split shift correctly. Night premiums apply only to the hours that qualify.

Hours are right even when the day is broken in two.

  • Cover and branch transfers

When a branch is short, a manager offers the shift to nearby staff, who accept in the app. The borrowed worker clocks in at the other branch, and their hours are charged to the branch where they actually worked. Managers can see who is nearby and already within their weekly hours.

Gaps are filled quickly and labour cost lands in the right place.

  • Seasonal and event staff onboarding

For Umrah peaks, Ramadan and Jeddah Season, HR can add short term staff in bulk, give them a start and end date and limit them to specific sites. Their access expires automatically when the contract ends, so nobody forgets to switch them off. Their first login shows a short policy notice in their own language.

Temporary teams start fast and leave the system cleanly.

  • Late arrival alerts

If a cashier or receptionist has not clocked in within a set number of minutes after the shift starts, the branch manager gets an alert and can call cover before customers queue. Repeated lateness is summarised for HR rather than reported line by line. Grace periods can differ for branches on congested roads.

Managers act on lateness before it hurts service.

  • Shift swaps with approval

Staff request swaps with a colleague of the same role, and the manager approves in one tap. The app blocks swaps that would break weekly rest or push someone into overtime the branch has not budgeted. Every swap stays visible in the roster history for later questions.

Fewer no shows caused by informal swaps.

  • Port and airport shift teams

Logistics and ground handling teams working near Jeddah Islamic Port and the airport often follow vessel and flight schedules. Supervisors can extend shifts, call in standby staff and record the reason, so overtime is tied to the delay that caused it. Standby staff confirm availability in the app before they are called.

    Overtime has a documented cause.

  • Leave, sick notes and permissions

Annual leave, sick leave with an attached note, and short permissions to leave early are requested and approved in the same app. The attendance record knows the reason for each absence, so payroll does not deduct what was approved. Managers see upcoming leave when they build next week's roster.

Absences are explained before the month closes.

  • Staff in many languages

Jeddah's hourly workforce is mixed, with Saudi staff alongside colleagues from South Asia, the Philippines and East Africa. The staff app runs in Arabic and English and can add the languages your teams read, with large icons for the main actions so a new waiter or housekeeper can use it on their first shift. Notices from HR reach every branch in the same languages.

Fewer mistakes from staff who struggle with the screen.

  • Payroll close for many branches

At month end, branch managers confirm their hours, area managers review exceptions, and HR exports one file for payroll. The file is shaped to your payroll system or the template your finance team prepares before uploading wage data to Mudad. Area managers only need to review the exceptions, not every line.

Month end closes from one approved record.

Who this is for

Four Jeddah employers who outgrow paper rosters first.

Jeddah is a trading and gateway city, and its biggest employers of hourly staff are in retail, food, hospitality, logistics and light industry. They share a problem: many sites, many shift patterns and a workforce that changes with the seasons. Attendance on paper or a basic fingerprint terminal can tell you someone arrived, but not whether they were covering another branch, on an approved swap or working a night shift that belongs to yesterday. The four groups below are where we see that gap most often, and each needs a slightly different first release.

01

Retail and restaurant chains

You run branches in malls and on high streets across Jeddah, with long opening hours and a young, mobile workforce. Your issues are lateness, unapproved swaps and staff who clock in at one branch and work at another. We begin with branch geofences, swaps with approval and a live staffing board for area managers, so they spend less time on the phone and more time in the branches. Reports then compare scheduled and actual hours per branch, which shows where rosters are padded and where a branch is running permanently short.

Area managers usually feel the difference in the first month.

02

Hotel groups and serviced apartments

Your properties fill around Umrah seasons, holidays and city events, and you bring in extra housekeeping, front office and kitchen staff for those weeks. We focus on seasonal onboarding, multiple departments per property and staff who work across properties in Jeddah and Makkah, with hours charged to the right hotel. Department heads see their own team only, while the general manager sees the whole property and the group sees every hotel in one view. Housekeeping supervisors can confirm room teams on a tablet at the start of each shift.

03

Logistics, freight and ground handling

Your teams work near the port, the airport and the industrial areas south of the city, often on irregular hours set by ships, flights and trucks. The first release covers shift extensions, standby call outs and a record of why overtime happened, which your operations and finance teams can both trust. Drivers can clock on from the vehicle at the start of a route, and the record shows where each shift began and ended. Agency workers stay separate from your own staff in every report.

04

Factories in the Jeddah industrial cities

You operate in one of the three industrial cities around Jeddah, with production shifts, contract labour and transport from accommodation. We build gate kiosks, line level shift boards and a payroll export, and keep contractor staff separate from your own employees in reports so supplier invoices can be checked line by line. Line supervisors can also see who has completed safety induction before they assign someone to a machine. Gate kiosks can share the turnstile you already have. Contract labour reports group workers by supplier.

From branch list to a live attendance app in Jeddah.

  1. 01Branch and roster discoveryWe map your branches, departments, shift templates and seasonal peaks, and interview a few branch managers by video to see how attendance is taken today and where it goes wrong. We also review a past month of rosters to see real patterns.
  2. 02Policy rules agreed with HRSplit shifts, overnight work, Ramadan hours, swaps, cover and lateness rules are written in plain Arabic and English and approved before any design work starts. Each rule gets a sample shift so managers can check the result.
  3. 03Screens for busy countersStaff clock in with two taps between customers, and managers get one board per branch. Arabic right to left layouts are designed first, not translated last. We test the screens with staff at a working branch counter.
  4. 04Build with payroll in mindStaff app, manager app and head office dashboard are built together, with the payroll export tested against a real month of your data. Payroll staff check each export before it is accepted.
  5. 05Pilot in a cluster of branchesA handful of nearby branches run the app for a full month, including at least one busy weekend, before the rest of the network joins. Branch feedback is collected weekly during the pilot.
  6. 06Rollout before the next peakWe plan the full rollout to finish ahead of your next busy season, so new seasonal staff start on the app rather than on paper. Head office tracks which branches still keep paper rosters.

Technology

What we build this with.

Cross platform apps for staff phones and shared tablets, a central rules engine for shifts and overtime, and hosting chosen with you so attendance and personal data stay within the Kingdom when your policy requires it. Shared tablets at a branch counter can run in kiosk mode.

Questions Jeddah businesses ask about attendance apps.

Branch clock in, live staffing boards and the month end payroll export.

For most Jeddah chains the first release covers geofenced clock in at each branch, a manager board showing who is in, late or missing, and an approved export for payroll. Swaps, cover between branches and seasonal onboarding often follow in the second release, once managers trust the basic record and staff are used to clocking in on their phones. Factories and logistics firms usually add gate kiosks and shift extensions instead.
