Courier apps that run one network from Cornwall to the Highlands.

Codeeo delivers courier delivery app development for the UK market: booking apps for senders, driver apps for employed and self-employed couriers, and a control platform that runs depots in several regions at once. We build for operators who have outgrown phone dispatch, regional firms expanding into new cities, and networks of independent couriers sharing one system. The national picture brings its own demands, from address data and remote area surcharges to clean air rules that differ from city to city.

Codeeo has no UK office. Our team of 80+ in Dubai, Riyadh and Karachi works remotely with British clients, running discovery, design reviews and demos by video call, with the same process we have applied on 200+ projects across the UAE and the US.

What a national courier platform needs

Built to run many depots without many systems.

A courier working in one town can live with a simple app. Once you operate across several regions, the weak points move: depots run things their own way, prices drift, addresses in rural areas confuse drivers, and nobody at head office can see the whole network at once. A national platform has to keep local flexibility while giving one set of rules, one customer record and one view of performance. The capabilities below are the ones that matter most when the map covers the whole of Britain and Northern Ireland. We agree which come first with you in discovery, usually starting with dispatch, driver apps and proof of delivery at a pilot depot, and add network features as each new region joins. Features that only one depot wants are weighed against the cost of maintaining them for the whole network.

Explain your project
  • Multi-depot network structure

Each depot gets its own drivers, vehicles, service area and opening hours, while head office sets shared prices, service levels and brand. Jobs that start in one region and finish in another pass between depots with a clear hand-over record, and managers see only the depots they are responsible for.

Local teams keep control without the network splitting apart.

  • Address lookup and validation

Customers type a postcode and pick the exact address from Royal Mail's Postcode Address File through a licensed lookup service. Rural properties, farms and new build estates can carry extra directions or map pins, so a driver in a village with shared postcodes still finds the right door.

Fewer failed deliveries caused by bad addresses.

  • National booking and service levels

Courier booking app development in the UK means offering service levels that mean the same thing everywhere, such as same day, next day before noon or timed delivery. Senders choose a level, see the price and cut-off times for their region, and receive a booking confirmation with a reference that every depot recognises.

One promise, applied the same way in every region.

  • Remote area rules

The Scottish Highlands and Islands, the Isle of Wight, the Isles of Scilly and Northern Ireland usually carry different prices and transit times. These are set as postcode-based rules, shown to the customer at booking and applied consistently, with ferry dependent areas able to carry longer delivery estimates.

Customers see the real price and timing before they book.

  • Clean air zones by city

London's ULEZ, charging Clean Air Zones in cities such as Birmingham, Bath and Bristol, and the Low Emission Zones in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee all apply different rules. Vehicle records hold emissions standards and the platform warns dispatch when a van is assigned into a zone it does not meet.

Zone charges and penalties are avoided before a van sets off.

  • Driver compliance records

The platform holds licence details, right to work checks, insurance and vehicle documents for every driver, with expiry alerts. Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes used for hire or reward need an operator's licence from the Traffic Commissioners, so larger vehicles can be linked to the right licence and maintenance records.

Compliance gaps show up on a dashboard, not in an inspection.

  • Hub and trunk scanning

Parcel delivery app development in the UK often includes overnight trunking between hubs. Each parcel is scanned at collection, at the hub, onto the trunk vehicle and out for delivery, so the network knows where every item is and missing parcels are traced to a specific hand-over.

Lost parcels are traced in minutes, not days.

  • Tracking and service messages

Courier tracking app development in the UK covers live maps, delivery windows and texts or emails at each stage. Service messages about a delivery are kept separate from marketing, which needs consent under PECR, so your notifications stay lawful while still keeping recipients informed.

Recipients stay informed without breaching marketing rules.

  • Payments and account billing

One-off senders pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and Open Banking payments can be offered as a lower-cost option for larger bookings. Business customers trade on account, with VAT invoices, credit limits and statements that can feed your accounting software. Companies House data can be used to check new business account applications.

Getting paid fits each kind of customer you serve.

  • Data protection controls

Driver location, recipient addresses and signatures are personal data under UK GDPR. We build role-based access, retention settings, data export for subject access requests and an audit log, and document the processing so your records and privacy notices reflect what the system does.

You can answer the ICO, a driver or a customer with confidence.

Who this is for

Four UK courier businesses we plan for.

Nationwide courier software is not one product. A family firm opening its third depot needs different things from a franchise network with dozens of independent members, and both differ from a retailer that runs vans for its own customers. Identifying your model early sets the rollout order, the integrations and the permissions structure, and it keeps the first release focused on the depots that matter most. It also decides who can see what: a franchise member should never see another member's customers, while a head office team usually needs to see everything.

01

A regional courier opening new depots

Firms that started in one city and now run depots in several regions often find each site has drifted into its own way of working. We bring them onto one platform depot by depot, starting with the busiest, keeping local pricing where it is justified and unifying everything else. Head office gains a single view of jobs, drivers and revenue across the country.

Rollout order is usually decided by depot volume.

02

A franchise or partner network

Networks of independent couriers that share a brand need a platform where each member runs its own business but customers see one service. We build member-level accounts, job sharing between members for cross-region work, settlement reports so each party is paid correctly, and brand controls that keep the customer experience consistent.

03

A national business with its own fleet

Wholesalers, builders merchants and retailers with branches across the UK often run their own vans. They need orders from their existing systems turned into delivery jobs, branch-level dispatch, customer notifications and proof of delivery that links back to the order. We fit the delivery layer around the ERP or ordering platform you already use.

Integration with your existing systems normally comes first.

04

A new courier platform or marketplace

Start-ups connecting senders with independent couriers need onboarding, document checks, job matching, ratings, payouts and support tools from the beginning. We help you scope a first version that proves demand in one or two cities before a national launch, and we design the data model so it can grow without a rebuild.

Six steps from first call to a network running on one platform.

  1. 01Network discoveryBy video call we review each depot's process, your national customers and your systems, and agree where the shared rules should sit and where depots keep freedom.
  2. 02Scope and rollout planFeatures, user roles and integrations are written up with a rollout order across regions, so everyone knows which depot goes live when.
  3. 03Design across rolesBooking screens for senders, driver apps, depot dashboards and a head office view are designed together so data passes cleanly between them.
  4. 04Build the platform coreWe build the shared backend, apps and integrations in stages, demonstrated on working builds, with test data drawn from real UK addresses and routes.
  5. 05Pilot depotOne depot runs live on the platform while others carry on as before. Lessons from the pilot shape fixes and training before wider rollout.
  6. 06Regional rollout and supportRemaining depots join in planned waves, with app store releases, onboarding guides and a support arrangement agreed for the long run.

Technology

What we build this with.

Cross platform or native mobile apps, a scalable cloud backend, browser dashboards for depots and head office, address lookup, mapping and routing services, barcode scanning and UK payment providers. We choose mainstream, well documented tools so the platform can be maintained by any capable team in future, including your own developers if you choose to bring the work in house.

Questions UK courier operators ask before they commit.

Not for postal services generally, but larger goods vehicles need an operator's licence.

Under the Postal Services Act 2011, operators can provide postal services without a licence or prior authorisation, though Ofcom can impose conditions such as consumer protection rules. Separately, goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes used for hire or reward need an operator's licence from the Traffic Commissioners. Your app can store these details per vehicle, but you should confirm your own position with a qualified adviser, since your vehicle mix and contracts decide what applies.

Tell us what the business needs. We will tell you what to build first.
