Booking and payment platforms for charging networks and installers across the UK.

Codeeo delivers EV charging booking website development UK businesses use to take reservations and payments online, from charge point operators running sites in several regions to installers who book home and workplace charger surveys. We build the booking engine, deposits, card holds, refunds, engineer and bay calendars, and an admin your team runs without developers, all designed around the national rules that govern public charging, consumer contracts and online payments.

National work brings national questions: which rules apply in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, how VAT applies to each tariff, and how one platform serves dozens of locations. Codeeo works with UK clients remotely, holding discovery and reviews by video call.

Platform capabilities

What a national charging booking platform has to do well.

Two kinds of business need online booking in UK charging. The first sells reserved time at chargers: operators, car park groups, hotel chains and fleet depots with more users than bays. The second sells a service: installers whose customers book a survey, pay a deposit and choose an installation date with an engineer. Both take money before the work is done, both need clear cancellation and refund terms, and both have to work across regions with different rules and teams.

We build for either model, or both together when an operator also installs. The capabilities below are chosen and configured for your business rather than switched on by default, and each one connects to the systems you already run.

Explain your project
  • Multi region site directory

Every site across the country, grouped by region and searchable by postcode or town, with connector types, power, accessible bays, opening hours and which bays can be booked. Regional managers edit their own sites, while head office controls national tariffs and terms.

Drivers find a bookable bay anywhere on your network from one page.

  • Survey and installation booking

Homeowners, landlords and businesses answer property questions, upload photos of the fuse board and parking area, pay a deposit and pick a survey or installation date. Answers flag jobs that need a supply upgrade or a permission check before an engineer travels.

Fewer wasted visits and better prepared engineers.

  • Engineer and van scheduling

Calendars for engineers by region, skill and van stock, so a booking only offers dates when a qualified person with the right charger in stock can reach that postcode. Office staff can move jobs, and customers get updated times automatically.

Bookings respect who can actually do the work, and where.

  • Bay reservations with card holds

For charging sites, the driver books a bay and a pre-authorisation is placed. When the charger reports energy delivered, the real amount is captured and the rest released. Strong Customer Authentication runs once, and saved card terms cover any agreed overstay fee.

Accurate charges even when the final amount is unknown at booking.

  • Deposits, balances and refunds

Installers take a deposit at booking and the balance on completion. Charging sites take deposits on peak dates. Refund rules, cut off times and fault handling are all set in the admin and shown to customers in plain English before they pay.

Refunds follow published rules, not case by case decisions.

  • National fleet and business accounts

Fleet and leasing firms book across many sites and regions under one account, with drivers, vehicles, limits and cost centres. Monthly invoices list every session and installation, and invoices can be paid by card or by Open Banking payment from the business account.

One commercial relationship covers the whole country.

  • Reminders and updates

Confirmation, reminder and change messages by email and SMS, with engineer arrival windows for installations and end of session alerts for charging. Service messages are kept apart from marketing, which only goes to people who opted in, as PECR requires.

Customers know what is happening without phoning you.

  • Charger and job system integration

Charging bookings connect to your charge point management system for availability and session data. Installation bookings connect to your job management or field service tool and your CRM, so a booked survey becomes a job with all the customer's answers attached.

No retyping between the website and the systems your team use.

  • Accessible booking flows

Every flow meets WCAG 2.2 AA and is tested with keyboards, screen readers and larger text. Charging sites can describe accessible bays using PAS 1899 categories, which supports your duties under the Equality Act and helps disabled drivers plan trips across the network.

The platform works for every customer, not most of them.

  • Tariffs, VAT and finance exports

Tariffs can be set nationally, by region or by site, in pence per kWh for charging and as fixed items for installations. VAT treatment is configured per item once your accountant has confirmed it, receipts and VAT invoices are produced automatically, and exports group income by region, site and customer account for your finance team.

Finance reconciles every region from the same set of reports.

Who it is for

UK charging businesses that need booking and payment online.

National platforms make sense when the same rules, prices and customer accounts must work across many places, and when local teams still need control of their own sites or calendars. The four types of business below make up most of the national enquiries we receive. Each has a different reason to take payment in advance, and each needs a different mix of the capabilities above. New buildings in England must also include charging infrastructure under Approved Document S, while Scotland and Wales set their own building rules, so developers and landlords increasingly arrive with chargers already installed and a booking problem to solve.

01

Charge point operators with sites in several regions

Operators running hubs from the South East to Scotland often want to sell reserved bays at some sites, for fleets, coaches or event days, while keeping ad hoc payment everywhere as the public charging rules require. A national booking layer on top of the charge point management system handles regional tariffs, a single customer account and consistent terms, and reports booking performance by site. Regional managers can open or close bookable bays locally without waiting for head office.

02

Home and workplace charger installers

Installers covering several regions need customers to book surveys and installations online, pay deposits, and see dates that reflect real engineer availability. The booking site gathers property details first, so unsuitable jobs are spotted early. Smart charge point rules and any grant eligibility questions can be built into the questions, with wording your compliance lead approves. Deposits are matched to jobs automatically, so finance can see which bookings are paid and which are waiting.

03

Hotel, leisure and car park groups

Groups with properties in many towns can offer bookable destination charging on their own websites, with national terms and local availability. Guests reserve a bay with their stay or parking booking, and the group sees usage across the estate. That data shows which properties need more chargers and which have spare capacity. Local managers can block bays for maintenance or events while national terms stay unchanged.

04

Fleet, leasing and salary sacrifice providers

Businesses supplying electric vehicles to companies and their staff often arrange home charger installation and public or depot charging as part of the package. A booking platform lets drivers schedule installations and book depot bays under the fleet account, while the provider tracks costs per driver and per contract across the country. Drivers see only the sites and services their employer's contract covers.

How we deliver a national platform

  1. 01Discovery across regionsWe map sites, teams, engineers, customer groups and payment routes in every region, and note where rules differ between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
  2. 02Terms, pricing and taxWe set out deposits, cancellation rules, tariffs and fees with your legal and finance leads. VAT treatment for each charge type is confirmed by your accountant before build.
  3. 03Design and prototypeBooking flows for drivers, homeowners and fleet managers are prototyped, tested with real customers by video call, and refined before development starts.
  4. 04Build and integrateWe build the booking engine, payments and admin, then connect the charge point management system, job management tool, CRM and accounting software you already use.
  5. 05Regional pilotOne region goes live first. We check bookings, refunds, engineer scheduling and reporting with your local team, then fix anything that does not match how they work.
  6. 06National rolloutRemaining regions join in planned waves. Regional managers are trained by video call to manage their own sites, calendars and local settings within national rules.

Technology

What we build this with.

We use a current web framework, a booking and scheduling engine, a payments layer on a UK acquirer that supports holds, captures, refunds and wallets, and API integrations with charge point management, field service and accounting systems. Hosting is chosen with UK GDPR and your security policies in mind. Booking pages are kept lean so they load quickly on mobile networks in rural areas as well as cities.

National questions, answered

We do not publish prices, but we can explain what drives them.

The main factors are the number of booking models (charging bays, installations or both), the number of customer types, the integrations with charge point management, field service, CRM and accounting tools, and how many regions launch at once. Clean, documented APIs on your existing systems reduce effort considerably. After discovery we provide a written estimate by feature and phase, so you can decide what launches first and what follows.
