A booking and payment site for Manchester firms whose cars cross ten council areas.

Our online taxi booking website development Manchester service gives hackney and private hire operators their own place to sell trips online. A passenger booking from Didsbury to Manchester Airport, from Piccadilly to MediaCityUK or home from a gig at Co-op Live gets a firm quote, pays by card or wallet, and receives the driver's details before the car arrives. Every booking records which council licensed the operator, driver and vehicle, because in Greater Manchester those are often not the same authority.

The project is the website and the payment platform behind it. Passenger and driver apps are a separate build. We work with Manchester operators remotely, by video call, and our team of 80+ has delivered 200+ projects across the UAE and the US.

What the booking platform covers

Built for cross-boundary trips and very busy nights.

Manchester's trade is split in a way that affects the website. Hackney carriages can be hailed in the district that licensed them; private hire cars must be pre-booked through an operator, and the operator, driver and vehicle all need licences from the same authority. Operators in England can subcontract bookings to another licensed operator under the Deregulation Act 2015. A booking site that ignores all this creates jobs your controllers then have to untangle.

So the platform starts with the record and builds the sales flow on top. It then deals with what Manchester demand actually looks like: match days at the Etihad and Old Trafford, arena nights, students on the Oxford Road corridor, business travellers through the airport and a large night economy in the Northern Quarter and on Deansgate. We agree the order of features with you; most firms start with paid airport and event bookings, then add accounts and contract work once the payment side is proven.

Explain your project
  • Licensing authority on each booking

The platform stores the licensing council for your operator licence, each driver and each vehicle, and only assigns a paid booking to a car licensed by the right authority. Subcontracted work records both operators and the moment the job was passed on.

Bookings stay inside your licence conditions without manual checks.

  • Event and match night pricing

Pre-booked return trips for football, concerts and the arenas, with fixed fares, pickup zones away from the crowds and capacity limits per slot. The full price, including any compulsory event surcharge you apply, is shown from the first quote.

Match night demand is sold in advance at prices you set.

  • Airport bookings with flight tracking

Manchester Airport pickups by terminal with flight numbers, clear meeting instructions and any drop-off or pickup charges built into the fare. Delayed flights move the booking automatically, and waiting time beyond the free period is charged as agreed at booking.

Airport work runs with fewer wasted drives and fewer arguments.

  • Pay now or pay later options

Taxi booking online payment integration in Manchester that lets you choose per trip type: full prepayment for airport and event bookings, a card hold for local trips with the final fare captured afterwards, or account billing. Apple Pay and Google Pay sit beside card entry, and Strong Customer Authentication is handled at checkout.

Each type of trip is paid in the way that suits it.

  • Student and late night safety

Bookings that let a friend or parent pay for someone else's ride and follow its status, with the driver's photo, name and registration shown before pickup. Passengers can share trip details from the confirmation page.

Parents and passengers trust pre-booked rides home.

  • Contract and school transport accounts

Accounts for councils, schools, care providers and businesses with booked routes, named passengers, approval steps and monthly invoices. Regular trips repeat automatically and changes are logged with who made them. Clients can see upcoming trips and cancel or amend them inside agreed cut-off times.

Contract work is booked, tracked and invoiced in one place.

  • Cancellation and refund engine

Cancellation windows by trip type, with different rules for event nights and contract work. Refunds run automatically through the payment provider and every decision is logged, which helps when a passenger raises a chargeback months later.

Refunds are fair, consistent and evidenced.

  • Dispatch and zone hand-off

Paid bookings sent into your dispatch system through its API, placed in the right zone queue, with driver assignment and arrival updates returned to the passenger. Where the dispatch system cannot accept web bookings, we build a controller queue for them.

Web work sits beside phone and app bookings.

  • Accessible booking flow

Requests for wheelchair accessible vehicles, assistance dogs and extra help captured clearly, with the website itself built to WCAG 2.2 AA. Under the Equality Act, refusing an assistance dog or charging extra for one is unlawful, so the booking flow never treats it as an add-on.

Disabled passengers book the right vehicle on their own.

  • Receipts, invoices and reporting

Automatic receipts after each trip, VAT invoices for business passengers where your accountant confirms VAT applies, and monthly statements for accounts. Reports show online revenue by trip type, borough and time of day, so you can see whether airport, event or local work is growing.

Finance and planning work from the same booking data.

Who this is for

Manchester firms we build for.

Greater Manchester has a mix of large operators running hundreds of cars, small local firms, hackney associations and contract specialists. A booking site that suits one does not automatically suit another, so the first conversation is about where your income comes from, which trips you want more of and which trips cost you money today.

Below are four starting points we see across Greater Manchester. Your firm may sit between two of them, which is normal; the first release is planned around whichever brings in the most paid work soonest.

01

A large private hire operator losing passengers to the big apps

You have the fleet and the dispatch system, but younger passengers book through the national ride hailing apps because your web presence is a phone number. A booking site on your own domain gives them a quick quote and card payment, and your local search rankings send them there. The site feeds your existing dispatch, so drivers see no difference. Out-of-area vehicles can still be offered where the rules allow, with the reason recorded.

Passengers you win online stay as your customers, not a platform's.

02

A hackney carriage association

Your members ply for hire in the city, but pre-booked work for airport runs and accounts is growing. The association can run one booking site for members, take payment centrally and pass jobs to available cabs, with each booking recorded against the driver's own licence. Fares for metered work follow the council's tariff. Members keep their independence, while the association gains a channel that competes with the national apps on convenience.

03

A school and contract transport operator

Most of your work is booked by organisations, not the public, and it needs approval steps, named passengers and accurate monthly invoices. The website gives each client a portal for bookings and changes, while public airport and event work is sold on the same platform with separate terms. We also handle trips from Salford, Trafford and Stockport the same way, since many of your passengers live outside the city boundary.

04

A firm leaving a white label booking product

You rent a booking page from a software supplier, cannot change the checkout, and do not own the passenger list. We build a platform you own, move customer accounts across where your supplier allows, and keep old links working with redirects. Your search rankings and repeat customers stay with your name. Your controllers get an admin panel they helped design, not one built for every firm in the country.

We plan the switch around a quiet week, not a derby.

How the build runs, from first call to first paid booking.

  1. 01Operations reviewA video call with your owner, office manager and senior controller to map licences, fares, payment methods and the trips that cause the most trouble.
  2. 02Booking rulesLicensing checks, subcontracting rules, event caps and cancellation terms written into a configuration your office can maintain.
  3. 03Design for phonesQuote, checkout and confirmation screens designed for passengers on the move, with the full price and driver details always visible. Screens are checked on older phones as well as new ones.
  4. 04Payment and dispatch buildCard holds, prepayment, refunds and account billing connected to your payment provider, and bookings linked to dispatch both ways.
  5. 05Test against real scenariosCross-borough trips, airport delays, match night caps, account approvals and refunds tested with your controllers before passengers pay.
  6. 06Launch and measureLive on your domain, then weekly reviews of abandoned quotes, failed payments and refunds to decide the next release.

Technology

What we build this with.

We fit the stack to your dispatch system and payment provider rather than the other way round. Most builds use a modern JavaScript or PHP framework, a UK card acquirer or Stripe, address lookup that handles Greater Manchester postcodes accurately, and UK hosting, with documentation and admin access handed to you so the platform is never tied to us.

What Manchester operators ask us.

We do, and the site records each licence so bookings stay lawful.

Many private hire vehicles working in Manchester are licensed by other councils. The platform stores the licensing authority for your operator licence, every driver and every vehicle, and checks that they match before a paid booking is assigned. When you subcontract a booking to another operator, both records are kept. Your licensing adviser confirms the rules; the software enforces them. Records can be exported for a compliance check at any time.
