Los Angeles dating memberships that follow California's contract and renewal rules.

We design and build paid dating communities for Los Angeles founders, matchmakers and social clubs. Dating membership website development Los Angeles businesses can rely on has to satisfy three sets of California rules at once: the Civil Code chapter on dating service contracts, the Automatic Renewal Law, and the CCPA as amended by the CPRA. Codeeo builds the plan pages, checkout, member portal and moderation tools with those rules in the screens themselves, so the site can take payments from day one without a compliance rebuild later.

Codeeo works with LA clients remotely. Discovery, design reviews and acceptance testing happen by video call, and every decision is written into a shared plan you can return to. Nothing about your Los Angeles audience is assumed; we ask, and we test with members where you can recruit them.

Inside the platform

The parts of a paid dating site California actually regulates.

California law has more to say about a paid dating site than most founders expect. Online dating services fall within the state's dating service contract chapter, which gives buyers a short cancellation window and specific refund rights. Renewing plans sit under the Automatic Renewal Law, which was tightened for contracts made from July 2025. Profile data such as sexual orientation and precise location counts as sensitive personal information under the CPRA. On top of that, LA members are spread across a county where a match in Long Beach and a match in Burbank are an hour apart, and many browse in Spanish, Korean, Armenian or Tagalog. These are the features we build so the site sells memberships properly in that setting.

Explain your project
  • Contract notice and cooling off

California Civil Code section 1694.1 lets a buyer cancel a dating service contract until midnight of the third business day, and online services must accept that notice by email. We place the required cancellation statement as a stand alone first paragraph of your terms, publish the email address, and track refunds against the ten day deadline.

The cooling off right is honored by the system, not by memory.

  • Renewal consent and annual reminders

Express consent to renewal terms is captured on a separate checkbox, stored with a timestamp, and kept for the retention period the law sets. Members on longer plans receive a yearly reminder showing the product, the charge and how to cancel.

Every renewal has consent you can prove.

  • Cancel online, in the same place

Members who joined on the site cancel on the site, from a clearly labeled link in their account. If you present a save offer, the flow tells them they can still cancel and finishes the cancellation if they decline.

No phone calls needed to leave, and fewer disputes.

  • Limit use of sensitive data

Orientation, sex life, precise location and government ID images are sensitive under the CPRA. We collect only what matching needs, add a limit use control where required, and keep those fields out of ad pixels and analytics tags entirely.

Sensitive fields never leak into marketing tools.

  • Recurring card and wallet billing

Stripe Billing or Braintree handles recurring charges through hosted fields, which keeps card data away from your servers and narrows PCI DSS scope. Apple Pay and Google Pay are offered beside the card form, and billing descriptors stay discreet.

Payment is quick, secure and private on the statement.

  • Neighborhood aware discovery

Members choose areas they will travel to, such as the Westside, Silver Lake, the San Fernando Valley or the South Bay, rather than a raw mile radius. Exact location is never shown; areas are coarse by design. Members who commute between Downtown Los Angeles and the beach cities can list both, so the distance problem of a spread out county is handled honestly.

Matches people can actually meet, without exposing addresses.

  • Multilingual plan pages

Plan descriptions, checkout labels, renewal emails and safety guidance can run in Spanish, Korean, Armenian or Tagalog alongside English. Legal text is translated by professionals and approved by your counsel before it goes live.

Members read the terms in the language they think in.

  • Self serve member account

Members see their tier, renewal date, receipts and verification status in one place. They can switch plans, update a card, download their data or delete their account. Plan changes show the proration or credit before confirmation, and every change triggers an email record that matches what the account page says.

Fewer support emails about billing, and a clear record for disputes.

  • Tax by member location

Since the Wayfair decision, states can require sales tax collection from remote sellers once sales into the state pass their thresholds, and states classify online access differently. A tax service such as Stripe Tax or Avalara calculates tax from the member's billing address, so new states are switched on without code changes.

Tax follows the member, not guesswork.

  • Reports, blocks and safety desk

Every profile and message carries report and block options. Reports land in a queue with screenshots, history and suggested actions, and a suspension can also stop the next renewal so a removed member is not charged again. Optional photo or ID verification through a specialist vendor adds a verified badge, with a notice explaining what is checked and how long images are kept.

Harmful behavior is handled quickly and consistently.

Who this is for

Four kinds of Los Angeles dating business we build for.

Los Angeles has room for many kinds of paid dating community, and the build changes with the business model. A dating subscription website development Los Angeles project for a matchmaker selling fixed term contracts has different legal screens from a members club that renews monthly. These four starting points cover most of the briefs we receive from across the county, from Santa Monica and Culver City to Glendale and Pasadena. Each one still shares the same foundation: a safe signup, honest billing, and moderation that a small team can actually keep up with.

01

An LGBTQ+ dating community

Members need firm control over who sees their profile, photos and orientation, and some are not out at work or at home. We build visibility settings by default, keep sensitive fields out of analytics, and support pronouns and identity options that members set themselves. Billing descriptors are neutral, and members can hide their profile instantly without cancelling, which matters to many LGBTQ+ members living across West Hollywood, Silver Lake and Long Beach.

Visibility defaults are agreed with your community advisers.

02

A matchmaking agency with fixed term packages

Your packages are dating service contracts under California law, so the agreement, the cancellation notice and the refund process have to be right before the first sale. We build an online contract flow with e signature, a clear three business day cancellation statement, an email channel for notices and an admin view that tracks refund deadlines. Client intake and matchmaker notes stay private to your team.

Your attorney approves the contract text.

03

A members club with events

Your offer mixes online introductions with curated evenings in Downtown LA, Venice or Pasadena. Membership tiers control event access, guest passes and how many introductions a member receives. The site checks capacity, waitlists members fairly, and stops event access automatically when a renewal fails.

04

A language community moving to paid access

A Korean American, Armenian American or Spanish speaking dating group has grown on social media and now wants a proper paid site. We build bilingual plan pages and checkout, moderation in both languages, and a respectful profile model that lets people describe their background in their own words, without filters that sort members by caste, sect or other exclusionary categories.

Community rules are set by the founders, not by filters.

Technology

What we build this with.

Typical stacks pair Next.js with a headless CMS for public pages and a separate member application with role based access. Dating membership payment integration Los Angeles clients need covers subscription webhooks, retry logic for failed cards and refunds that update access immediately. Hosting runs in US data centers with encrypted backups, and staff access to member records is logged.

Common questions from Los Angeles dating founders.

Mostly scope, contract review and payment underwriting.

The build itself depends on the number of tiers, languages and integrations. Outside steps add time too: your attorney reviewing the contract and renewal wording, the payment provider approving a dating business, and the verification vendor setting up your account. We start those early in discovery and show them as named dependencies in the schedule, so you can see what is waiting on whom at any point. Larger Los Angeles projects usually launch in stages: one tier first, then events, verification upgrades or extra languages once real members are paying and giving feedback.
