Sell courses to Los Angeles learners with checkout that follows California rules.

Codeeo offers education course selling website development in Los Angeles for film, animation and music production schools, acting and screenwriting studios, coding and design bootcamps, career training providers, tutoring companies and creators who teach online. We build the storefront, enrollment, payments, cohort calendars and the paid learning area, with California consumer law in mind from the first wireframe, so a learner in Burbank, Koreatown or Long Beach can enroll in English or Spanish and start the same day.

Los Angeles learners often study around shoots, shifts and long drives. The site has to sell flexible formats clearly: live evening cohorts, weekend intensives, recorded courses and one on one mentoring, each with its own price, access period and cancellation terms.

What we build

A course store shaped by how Los Angeles learns and how California regulates selling.

Selling education in Los Angeles means selling to a very mixed audience. A cinematography intensive in Hollywood, a bilingual GED prep course in East Los Angeles and a UX bootcamp on the Westside have little in common except that each learner wants to know exactly what they pay, when they get access and how to leave if plans change.

California sets a higher bar than most states on those three questions. The Honest Pricing Law that took effect in July 2024 bars hiding mandatory fees until late in checkout, and the Automatic Renewal Law, amended with effect from July 2025, requires express consent to renewal terms and online cancellation when the learner signed up online. The CCPA, as amended by the CPRA, gives residents rights over their personal information if your business meets its thresholds. We build these into the education online course platform itself rather than adding banners at the end, and we keep the wording in your admin so your counsel can adjust it without a developer.

Explain your project
  • Format based course storefront

Courses listed by format as well as subject: live cohort, weekend intensive, self paced recording, mentoring package or studio session. Each format has its own access rules and price display. Learners filter by neighborhood for in person sessions or choose online, and the page states the start date, schedule and total cost before anything goes into the cart.

Learners compare formats without calling to ask what each one includes.

  • All in pricing display

Registration, materials, lab or equipment fees are folded into the advertised price wherever they are mandatory, so the number on the course card matches the number at payment. Optional add ons such as a software license or a portfolio review are shown separately and clearly labeled optional.

Pricing that matches California's Honest Pricing Law expectations.

  • Renewals and online cancellation

For membership libraries and monthly mentoring, the checkout captures express consent to renewal terms, keeps a record of that consent, sends the reminders your plan requires and gives learners a cancel button in their account. Cancellation takes effect without a phone call or a retention maze.

Recurring revenue that does not invite consumer complaints.

  • Education course payment integration

Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and buy now pay later providers through your processor, plus payment plans for longer programs. Failed installment payments trigger a reminder and a retry, and access pauses only according to the policy written in your enrollment terms. Card details never touch your own server.

Larger programs become affordable without manual collections.

  • Bilingual enrollment

Course pages, checkout, emails and the learner area in English and Spanish, with other languages such as Korean or Armenian added where your audience needs them. Policy text is translated by people, not machine output, and both versions are reviewed together so the terms match.

Spanish speaking families and learners enroll with confidence.

  • Portfolio and project submission

Creative courses are judged on work, not quizzes. Learners upload reels, scripts, mixes or design files into a private area for instructor feedback, with file size limits and formats set per course. Completion can depend on approved submissions rather than just watching lessons.

Certificates reflect finished work that a studio can review.

  • Privacy rights handling

If the CCPA applies to your business, learners need ways to request access, deletion or correction and to opt out of sale or sharing. We add a request form, a verification step, a staff queue with deadlines and honoring of the Global Privacy Control signal, and we keep tracking pixels off until consent rules allow them.

Privacy requests are answered on time with a clear audit trail.

  • Cohort calendar and seat control

Live cohorts have seat caps, start dates and time zone aware schedules shown in Pacific time with conversion for remote learners. When a cohort fills, the next one opens for preorder, and staff can move a learner between cohorts while keeping their payment history intact.

Cohorts fill in order and nobody is oversold.

  • In person session logistics

For hands on classes held in a rented studio in Hollywood, a stage in the Valley or a classroom Downtown, the course page shows the exact address, parking or Metro notes, what to bring and any equipment deposit. Learners get the location only after payment where you prefer, and reminders go out the day before with any room or call time change.

Fewer no shows and fewer learners lost on the way to class.

  • Paid learning portal

One login for lessons, live session links, downloads, submissions and receipts. Access lasts for the period you sell, such as a cohort plus a set review window or lifetime access to a recording, and ends cleanly when a refund is approved.

Learners keep exactly what they bought, no more and no less.

Where this fits

Los Angeles course businesses we are a good match for.

Paid learning portal development looks different for a cinematography school than for a tutoring company in the San Fernando Valley. These four groups come to us most often, and each one needs a different emphasis in the build. Where you sit also affects which California approvals and disclosures your site must carry.

Across all four, the common thread is the same: the person paying wants the full price, the schedule and the exit terms visible before they type a card number, and California law increasingly expects exactly that.

01

Film, animation, music and acting schools

Schools serving the studios in Burbank and Hollywood and the production companies across the city sell intensives, workshops and longer certificate programs. They need equipment or studio fees shown honestly, portfolio submission, waitlists for popular instructors and limited seats for hands on sessions. We make the course page work as a showcase with instructor credits and student work, and keep checkout short.

We only show instructor credits you can document.

02

Career schools and bootcamps

Private postsecondary programs in California may need approval or registration with the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, and qualifying institutions must include the state's Student Tuition Recovery Fund statement in their enrollment agreement and catalog. We build the enrollment agreement step, the required disclosures and the cancellation and refund rules into checkout so they cannot be skipped.

Your counsel confirms which approvals apply to you.

03

Tutoring and test prep for families

K to 12 tutoring and admissions prep across the Valley, the Westside and the South Bay is bought by parents for children. That brings COPPA for children under 13, and California's own rules on minors' data. We build parent accounts as the paying and consenting party, keep children's profiles minimal and switch off behavioral advertising on child facing pages.

04

Creators and independent instructors

Photographers, editors, colorists, writers and musicians who teach online need a site they own rather than a marketplace that takes a share and holds the customer list. We set up a lean storefront with courses, bundles and a membership library, connected to their email platform, and simple enough to run alone. Bundles, coupon codes and a free preview lesson can be switched on when you need them.

Ownership of the learner list is the main reason to build.

How a Los Angeles course site goes from plan to launch.

  1. 01Offer and policy mappingOn video calls we list every course, format, fee, renewal and refund rule, and the approvals you hold, then sort which ones the first release needs.
  2. 02Compliance review pointsWe mark where California pricing, renewal and privacy rules touch the flow, and agree which wording your counsel will sign off before design.
  3. 03Storefront and checkout designDesigns in English and Spanish built with real course content, tested on phones and with screen readers, and reviewed by your team in shared prototypes.
  4. 04Platform buildCatalog, cart, payments, renewals, privacy request handling, learner area and admin console, with your LMS, email platform and accounting tools connected.
  5. 05Rehearsal with test paymentsWe run enrollments, failed installments, cancellations, refunds and privacy requests on test cards and test accounts, in both languages, before launch.
  6. 06Launch and tuningLaunch timed ahead of your next cohort, then we review checkout drop off and support questions and adjust copy or steps that slow people down.

Technology

What we build this with.

For instructors and small schools, WordPress with WooCommerce and a learning plugin, or Shopify with a course app, keeps running costs low and lets you edit pages yourself. Schools with cohorts, payment plans, enrollment agreements and bilingual content usually need a Next.js front end with a custom enrollment back end and a hosted LMS behind it. We recommend after discovery, not before, and explain the tradeoffs in writing.

Questions from Los Angeles schools and instructors.

The storefront, enrollment, payments, renewals and the paid learner area.

A typical build covers course pages by format, a cart and checkout with all in pricing, card and wallet payments with optional installment plans, renewal consent and online cancellation for recurring products, a learner portal, an admin console and connections to your email and accounting tools. Los Angeles projects often add Spanish, portfolio submission for creative courses and a privacy request process. We confirm the list in discovery so nothing important is assumed.
