Client apps for US law firms that practice in more than one state.

Codeeo provides legal services app development USA firms can roll out across offices and jurisdictions without rebuilding for each state. We design and build iOS and Android client apps and the firm dashboard behind them: intake that routes by state and practice area, conflict screening, consultations, engagement agreements, documents, matter updates and trust aware payments. The design follows the ABA Model Rules as a baseline, then adjusts screen by screen for the state rules each office actually works under.

Our team of 80+ is based in Dubai, Riyadh and Karachi and works remotely with US clients. Workshops, design reviews and demos run by video call, with decisions written down for partners in every office to see.

Built for
Multi-office and multistate law firms, national practice groups, legal services networks and corporate legal departments across the United States.
Typical timeline
Discovery sets the first release and the order of office rollout; written delivery dates follow once designs are approved and system access is granted.
What you own
The firm owns all source code, app store accounts, cloud infrastructure, the admin dashboard and client data, with documentation handed over alongside.

Platform capabilities

One app, many jurisdictions: what it includes.

Every state regulates its own lawyers. Most have adopted rules based on the ABA Model Rules, but with differences that matter to an app: advertising filing in some states, labeling in others, different trust account programs and different consumer privacy laws. A national firm needs one codebase with rules that change by office and by client location. The ABA's own guidance sets the floor. Model Rule 1.6(c) asks for reasonable efforts against unauthorized disclosure, Formal Opinion 477R addresses securing client communications, and the technology competence comment to Rule 1.1 has been adopted by most states. These are the capabilities we build on top of that floor.

Explain your project
  • Jurisdiction aware intake

Prospective clients state where they live and where the matter arises before anything else. The app routes them to attorneys licensed in that state, keeping your firm on the right side of Model Rule 5.5 on unauthorized practice, and shows the disclaimers that state requires.

Each enquiry reaches a lawyer who can actually take it.

  • Firm wide conflict checks

Party names run against the conflicts database for every office before the client tells their story. Model Rule 1.18 protects prospective clients' information, so limiting what the firm learns before clearance protects the whole firm from disqualification.

Conflicts are caught across offices, not just in one.

  • Configurable advertising content

Practice descriptions, attorney bios and promotional messages can carry state specific labels, disclaimers and approval steps. Each version is archived with its approver, which helps offices meet filing, pre-approval and retention rules that differ between states.

One content system that adapts to each state bar's rules.

  • Trust accounting by state

Every state runs an IOLTA program, and Model Rule 1.15 sets the baseline for safekeeping client funds. The app labels each payment as unearned or earned and routes it to the trust or operating account of the correct office, using a legal processor for cards, ACH, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Client funds land in the right account in the right state.

  • Engagement agreements by state

Some states require written fee agreements for certain matters, and contingency fees generally need a signed writing under Model Rule 1.5(c). The app holds a template per state and practice area, fills in the matter details, and captures an electronic signature that is filed with a timestamp.

Each office sends the agreement its own state expects.

  • Lawyer booking across time zones

Lawyer booking app development USA firms need has to show availability correctly whether the client is in Phoenix or Philadelphia. Attorney calendars sync per office, slots display in the client's local time, and video or office meetings are offered according to each attorney's settings.

No more missed meetings caused by time zone confusion.

  • Privacy controls for a state patchwork

California's CCPA as amended by the CPRA, Texas's TDPSA and a growing list of other state laws give residents rights over their data. The dashboard handles access, correction and deletion requests, applies holds where the firm must retain records, and keeps a privacy notice that your counsel controls.

Data requests handled consistently, whatever state the client lives in.

  • Health and payment data safeguards

Injury, disability and health law matters often bring in medical records, and firms acting for covered entities may sign HIPAA business associate agreements. Card payments fall under PCI DSS. We isolate these data types, use tokenized payments and apply stricter access controls where they apply.

Sensitive records get controls matched to their risk.

  • Accessible client screens

Courts have applied the ADA to digital services in a number of cases, and clients with disabilities need to reach their lawyers. We design to WCAG guidelines, with screen reader labels, sufficient contrast, resizable text and forms that work with assistive technology.

Fewer clients shut out, and less accessibility risk for the firm.

  • National reporting dashboard

Firm leadership sees enquiries, conversions, response times and collections by office, state and practice group. Office managers see their own numbers, and permissions follow your firm's structure.

Leadership compares offices on the same measures.

Who we work with

Four kinds of US legal organization we build for.

A national app is not a single office app copied several times. Rollout order, state rules, payment accounts, client languages and staff training all change from one office to the next, and offices that were acquired often run different software. We plan for that from the start, launching first where the need is clearest and adding offices on a schedule your firm agrees, with each office's differences captured in configuration rather than in separate builds.

01

Multistate plaintiffs' firms

Injury and mass tort practices advertise across many states and receive enquiries from all of them. The app sorts each enquiry by state, checks conflicts firm wide, collects medical and incident records, and routes signed cases to the office or co-counsel licensed there. Solicitation and advertising rules for each state are configured centrally. Referral and co-counsel arrangements are recorded on the matter, so fee sharing terms are visible to the right people and nobody has to search email to find them later.

Central configuration stops one office's rules leaking into another's.

02

Regional full service firms

Firms with offices in a handful of cities want one brand and one client experience. Law firm app development USA regional firms ask for usually includes shared document rooms, matter updates, e-signature and invoice history, with office specific trust accounts and attorney directories. Each office keeps its own attorney directory and practice area pages, while clients who move or have matters in two cities see everything under one login. Partners in one office can be added to a matter run from another without a new account.

03

Legal aid networks and pro bono programs

Organizations serving low income clients across a state or region need eligibility screening, multilingual intake, referral routing between partner organizations and reporting for funders. Privacy controls protect clients who may be at risk if their matter becomes known. Text message reminders back up push notifications for clients who share phones or have limited data, and staff can complete intake on a client's behalf during a phone call so nobody is excluded for lack of a smartphone.

Eligibility screening comes before anything else.

04

National corporate legal departments

In house teams with lawyers in several states field requests from every business unit. An internal app with single sign-on, triage rules, matter tracking and outside counsel management shows the general counsel where demand comes from and where outside spend goes. Matter data can feed the department's existing reporting tools, so budget reviews draw on the same records the legal team works from day to day.

How we take a legal app from one office to many.

  1. 01Firm wide discoveryVideo workshops with leadership and representatives from each office map shared processes, local differences, systems in use and the states where the firm practices.
  2. 02Jurisdiction matrixWe build a matrix of advertising, trust account, privacy and recording rules for each state, reviewed by your ethics counsel, which becomes the configuration behind the app.
  3. 03Core designOne design system covers the shared client experience, with slots for state specific disclaimers, labels and language versions, tested with staff from several offices.
  4. 04Build and integrateWe develop the app and dashboard and connect practice management, calendars, document storage, e-signature and payments, with office level settings for accounts and routing.
  5. 05Pilot office launchOne office goes live first. We measure intake completion, staff response times and payment routing, fix what the pilot reveals, then confirm the rollout plan with firm leadership.
  6. 06Office by office rolloutRemaining offices launch in agreed waves, each with its state configuration checked, staff onboarding by video and a review after the first weeks of use.

Technology

What we build this with.

We build native or cross platform apps on encrypted cloud infrastructure, with configuration for each state and office held in the dashboard rather than in code. Integrations use documented APIs, and the firm receives full technical documentation. That way your own team, or another developer, can maintain the app later.

Questions national firms ask before building.

The app has to change its rules depending on the state.

Advertising requirements, trust account programs, recording consent and consumer privacy all vary between states. A single office app can hard code one set of rules; a multistate app needs those rules held as configuration, so a client in Illinois sees different disclaimers and consent prompts from a client in Florida. We build that configuration layer first, which makes adding a new office a settings change rather than a new development project. It also means a firm that opens in a new state can switch the office on without waiting for an app store release.
