Yacht charter booking apps built for federal and state rules across the US.

Yacht booking app development USA charter businesses can grow on has to handle more than a calendar. We build guest, crew and admin apps that sell captained and bareboat charters, schedule licensed captains and crew, collect electronic waivers, take deposits and process refunds, and pause trips when marine weather turns. Every vessel's passenger limit and every captain's credential is checked against the rules you confirm, so a fleet in one state can expand to new harbors and lakes without rebuilding.

Codeeo has a team of 80+ across Dubai, Riyadh and Karachi and has delivered 200+ projects across the UAE and the US. We have no US office; we work remotely with American clients, running discovery, design reviews and demos by video call.

Built for
Multi location charter companies, yacht management firms, charter brokers and marina groups operating in more than one US state or planning to.
Typical timeline
Agreed in a written scope after discovery, with a rollout order for locations decided around each market's boating season.
What you own
Source code, store listings, admin and crew tools, processor accounts, and every booking, guest and crew record, in accounts registered to your company.

Platform capabilities

One platform, many harbors, rules that change at each state line.

A US charter company that operates in two or three states is really running several businesses under one brand. Federal Coast Guard rules apply to passenger carrying on navigable waters, but boater education, registration, privacy and sales tax are set by each state, and the seasons differ: Florida and Southern California run most of the year, while the Great Lakes and the Northeast compress their trade into the warm months. The booking platform has to hold a shared core, meaning one guest account, one crew system and one finance view, while letting each location set its own vessels, policies and compliance checks. These are the capabilities we design for operators working at that scale.

Explain your project
  • Multi location inventory

Each harbor, marina or lake is a location with its own vessels, time zone, departure points, itineraries and seasonal calendar. Guests search by place and date; staff see only the locations they manage; head office sees everything in one view. Pricing, minimum durations and blackout dates are set per location.

New locations launch as configuration, not new apps.

  • Vessel status and passenger limits

Uninspected vessels are generally limited to six passengers for hire, while inspected vessels carry the number shown on their Certificate of Inspection. Each yacht's status, limit and minimum crew are stored in the platform and enforced at checkout and in rostering across every sales channel.

No location can oversell a vessel, whoever takes the booking.

  • Credentialed crew management

Captains hold Coast Guard merchant mariner credentials, such as an operator of uninspected passenger vessels license or a master license, and for-hire mariners must be in a drug testing program. The platform tracks credentials, endorsements, expiry dates and testing enrollment, and only offers trips to crew who qualify. Crew can work at more than one location when their credentials allow it.

Rostering follows the credential rules automatically.

  • Bareboat and captained products

Captained charters and genuine bareboat charters are separate products with separate flows. Bareboat bookings include a real captain choice step and the charter agreement your lawyer drafts, so the platform never presents an owner supplied captain as a bareboat arrangement.

Each charter type follows its own legal structure.

  • Electronic waivers and agreements

Waivers and charter agreements are signed electronically under the federal ESIGN Act, versioned per location and stored with the booking. Wording is supplied by your counsel, since enforceability differs by state and maritime law can limit what a passenger waiver achieves.

The right document, signed by the right person, for every trip.

  • State boater education checks

Where guests operate a vessel themselves, the platform asks for the credential each state expects, such as a Texas boater education card, a California Boater Card or a New York boating safety certificate, and records any exemption your counsel approves for rentals. On crewed charters these checks are skipped, since the captain operates under a Coast Guard credential.

Self drive bookings meet each state's operator rules.

  • Deposits, balances and refunds

Deposits, scheduled balances, split payments, security holds and invoices for corporate clients, with Apple Pay and Google Pay at checkout. A PCI DSS compliant processor handles card data, and refunds follow the policy each guest accepted, with every change logged. Sales tax rules are configured per state with your accountant, because charter taxation is not uniform across the country.

Consistent money handling across every location.

  • Marine weather and hurricane holds

Operations teams can hold a single trip, a location or a whole region and notify guests in one action. Hurricane season on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts can be configured with its own cancellation and credit terms, separate from everyday wind holds. National Weather Service marine forecasts can sit beside the day's departures for each location.

Large scale disruption managed calmly and consistently.

  • Owner, broker and partner portals

Yacht owners see their calendar, earnings and date blocks. Brokers and travel partners hold dates and earn commission. Each portal shows only the vessels and bookings that party is allowed to see. Statements and commission reports are generated from completed trips, so nobody is paid on a booking that was later refunded.

Owners and partners self serve instead of calling your office.

  • Group reporting and accessibility

Revenue, utilization, holds and refunds by state, location and vessel, with exports to accounting. Guest apps are designed and tested against WCAG guidelines so customers using assistive technology can book, which also supports your ADA position. Location managers get the same reports filtered to their own harbor.

One accurate view of the business, open to every guest.

Who this is for

Operators who need a national charter platform.

A single yacht in one harbor rarely needs a national platform. The businesses that do are growing across states, managing boats for owners, or selling inventory they do not operate. Each brings a different first priority, and the platform is planned so that the first release solves it without blocking the next location or the next product line. Most of the work in this kind of build sits in the data model and the rules, not the screens.

01

Charter companies expanding to new states

You have proven the model in one market and are opening in another, perhaps a Florida operator moving into the Carolinas or a lake operator adding a coastal base. We build the location model first, so the second market is configuration: vessels, crew, policies and state checks added without new code or a separate app. Reporting compares markets side by side from day one.

Location model first, then expansion.

02

Yacht management groups

You manage privately owned yachts in several harbors and place them into charter. Owners expect transparent calendars and statements; your team needs crew rosters and maintenance blocks; guests need a single booking experience. We build owner portals, maintenance calendars and statements on the same platform as the guest app.

Owners, crews and guests in one system.

03

National charter brokers and marketplaces

You sell trips across many operators. The platform needs operator onboarding, verification of vessel status and captain credentials, availability sync, commissions and payouts. We plan the data model so the marketplace can show which party operates each vessel, which matters for liability and for passenger rules. Operators can be suspended automatically when a credential or inspection lapses.

Operator verification and clean payouts.

Marina groups adding charters

Your marinas already serve slip holders and visitors. Adding captained charters, boat club access or event yachts turns them into bookable products. We connect charter booking to your existing slip and member systems where their APIs allow, and keep each marina's rules and seasons separate.

How we deliver a charter platform that works in more than one state.

  1. 01National discoveryBy video call we map every location, vessel type, sales channel, crew arrangement and policy, then agree which markets and features the first release covers, in writing.
  2. 02Rules registerFederal passenger rules, state operator requirements, privacy laws and waiver terms are logged per location, reviewed by your counsel, and turned into configurable product rules.
  3. 03Shared core designGuest, crew, owner and admin experiences designed once with location level settings, tested as prototypes with staff from more than one market.
  4. 04Build in releasesCore booking and payments first, then crew and compliance, then portals and reporting, each release demonstrated by video call and testable on your devices.
  5. 05Pilot location launchWe launch in one market first, ideally ahead of its season, fix what real guests and crews reveal, then switch on the next location.
  6. 06Rollout and growthFurther locations, products and partners added from a backlog shaped by real data from earlier markets.

Technology

What we build this with.

We typically use React Native or Flutter for guest and crew apps, a web admin, and a cloud backend designed for many locations and time zones. Payments run through a US processor with wallet support, invoicing and automated refunds, and integrations connect to your accounting and marina tools.

Questions US charter operators ask about building a platform.

Federal passenger rules, state operator rules, privacy and payments, configured per location.

The Coast Guard sets passenger for hire rules, vessel inspection and mariner credential requirements. States set boater education and registration, and many now have consumer privacy laws such as California's CCPA and CPRA or the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act. Card handling follows PCI DSS. We turn the rules your counsel confirms into settings the platform enforces at each location. When you open a new state, its rules are added to the register and reviewed before the location goes live, rather than discovered after the first complaint.
