Hanayen came to Codeeo with a clear brief. The store has to carry the craftsmanship of the garments while still checking out quickly on a phone.
About the client
Hanayen has been designing and making abayas in Dubai since 1990, with its own factory and stores in malls across the UAE. It sells abayas, sheilas, jalabiyas and modest wear at the luxury end, where the fabric, the embroidery and the finish are the product.
What they needed
Luxury clothing sells on detail that a small photograph destroys. The store had to carry embroidery and beadwork at a size where a customer can see what she is paying for.
At the same time most of the traffic is on a phone, often in the evening, so the detail could not come at the cost of a checkout that takes too long or a page that takes seconds to load.
What we built
An online store where each collection has room to breathe, with imagery large enough to show the work on the garment and product pages that explain fabric, cut and sizing in the terms customers use.
The catalogue is organised the way the house thinks about its collections rather than the way a generic shop template wants to organise it, so a seasonal drop or an occasion collection is a first class thing on the site.
Checkout was shortened to the steps that are genuinely needed, with the payment and delivery options UAE customers expect, because a long form is where a phone purchase dies.
How we worked
We photographed and sized the imagery for the real devices customers use, not for a desktop mock up.
The team can add a collection and merchandise it themselves, which is what keeps a fashion store current between seasons.
The store, the domain and the payment accounts are in the client's name, with the team trained to run the catalogue.
