HMS FMCE came to Codeeo with a clear brief. They needed one site that served both languages properly, rather than two half maintained ones.
About the client
HMS FMCE works in healthcare, where the website is often the first contact a patient has with the organisation and where the information has to be right in both languages the UAE actually reads.
What they needed
Bilingual healthcare sites are usually English sites with Arabic bolted on, which shows immediately: broken line breaks, mirrored layouts that do not mirror, and Arabic that reads like a translation because it is one.
Patients also arrive under pressure. Someone looking for a clinic, a department or a phone number is not browsing, and every extra step is a cost.
What we built
One website built right to left from the first wireframe, so the Arabic version is a designed experience rather than a mirrored afterthought. Typography, spacing and navigation were set for both scripts.
The structure follows what patients look for: what is treated, who treats it, where it is and how to reach someone, with the contact route never more than a tap away.
Content was modelled so that departments, services and practitioners relate to each other properly, which is what stops a healthcare site from becoming a pile of unconnected pages.
How we worked
Arabic was tested with people who read Arabic, not with a translation tool.
Both language versions were built in the same system, so they cannot drift apart when only one gets updated.
The site, the domain and the hosting belong to the client, and both languages are maintained from one place.
