In short

Consumer apps keep people coming back through rhythm and safety, not growth hacks. Across six products, a community app with voice and video calls, a social network with request gating, a matching app that leads with an avatar, two faith companions and a personal diary, the systems that mattered most were moderation, daily content and the admin that runs them.

What the sector asks of software

Three things every consumer app has to get right.

Each one is drawn from a project on this site, not from a sector report.
01

A community is only as good as its moderation

Regive handles reports, bans and categories from an admin so the community stays safe, and My Places gates follows and chats behind requests before any contact.

Regive, My Places

02

Daily content needs a daily system

Path to Water serves an ayah, a hadith and a quiz every day from the API, with banners and events managed by an admin through the year, including Ramadan. Spirit Check keeps prayers, disciplines and goals in one daily loop.

03

The first impression does not have to be a photo

Stumble asks for an avatar and a few answers before anyone is shown, matches on demographics and preferences, and opens chat only after a match.

01

Community

REGIVE

A social app where members post items, join communities, chat, call and report, with categories and moderation from an admin.

Regive is built around communities and posts. Members list what they have, browse by category, talk in chat, make voice and video calls through Agora and record audio messages. Reports, banned users and categories are handled by an admin so the community stays safe.

Social

MY PLACES

Groups, posts, friends, follows and chat with requests, plus subscriptions and coupons, with moderation and payments in the API.

My Places is a social network with the usual pieces done properly: find friends, follow and accept requests, create groups and add people, post, and chat with request gating. Subscriptions and coupons are built into the API with payment webhooks, and an admin handles reports and content.

STUMBLE

A matching app built on avatars, questions and preferences, with discovery toggles, chat and a full admin for questions, interests and reports.

Stumble asks people to build an avatar and answer the bare minimum before they see anyone, then matches on demographics and preferences rather than a camera roll. Chat opens after a match, and an admin controls the question bank, interests, avatars, reports and analytics.

Faith

PATH TO WATER

An Islamic companion app with daily ayah and hadith, quizzes, a journal, events, reminders and history, managed from an admin.

Path to Water gives its users a daily rhythm: an ayah and a hadith, a quiz to test understanding, a journal to reflect, reminders for events and a history of what has been read. Content, banners and events are managed by an admin so the app stays current through the year, including Ramadan.

SPIRIT CHECK

A Christian discipline app with prayers, biblical disciplines, goals, records and reminders, on a Node.js API.

Spirit Check helps people keep a daily practice: add prayers, follow biblical disciplines, set and edit goals, keep records and get notifications. The content and accounts live in an API built with Node.js and Firebase.

Productivity

REMIN DIARY

A personal diary app for notes, checklists, documents and renewal dates, with a calendar, categories and reminders.

Remin Diary keeps the things people forget: a document that expires, a renewal date, a checklist. Notes can be descriptive or checklist style, documents are stored with their renewal dates, and the calendar and reminders surface them before the deadline rather than after.

Sector notes

What building community, social and faith apps has taught us.

Six consumer apps on Flutter and Node or NestJS APIs. These are the things we would say to a community founder, a faith organisation or a social startup before the first sprint.

01

Moderation is the product's immune system

Regive is built around communities and posts. Members list what they have, browse by category, talk in chat, make voice and video calls through Agora and record audio messages. All of that would collapse without the admin behind it, where reports, banned users and categories are handled so the community stays safe.

My Places takes a different route to the same safety: follows and chats are gated behind requests before any contact, groups carry membership controls, and an admin handles reports and content. Both run on a Flutter front end and a NestJS and MongoDB API, with My Places adding subscriptions and coupons through payment webhooks.

02

Daily content needs a daily system

Path to Water gives its users a daily rhythm: an ayah and a hadith, a quiz to test understanding, a journal to reflect, reminders for events and a history of what has been read. The content, banners and events are managed by an admin through the year, so the app stays current through Ramadan without a release, with media in S3 behind a NestJS API.

Spirit Check does the same for a Christian audience: prayers, biblical disciplines, goals, records and reminders in one daily loop on a Node.js API with Firebase. Remin Diary applies the rhythm to practical life, surfacing document renewals and checklist items before the deadline rather than after. In each case the reminder arrives ahead of the event, which is the whole point.

03

The first impression does not have to be a photo

Stumble asks people to build an avatar and answer the bare minimum before they see anyone, then matches on demographics and preferences rather than a camera roll. Chat opens only after a match. The admin controls the question bank, interests, avatars, reports and analytics, so the product's rules can change without an app release.

The stack is Flutter with a NestJS API and sockets for chat. The design decision, avatar before photo and questions before discovery, did more for the quality of matches than any algorithm would have.

What we build

From the first post to the daily reminder.

Each capability below has shipped in at least one of the six consumer apps on this site.
Explain your project
  • Community and social apps

Groups, posts, friends, follows and chat with request gating, on a NestJS and MongoDB API.

Members post, follow and chat with the gating that keeps it safe.

  • Voice and video inside the app

Agora calls and audio messages built into the community rather than linking out.

Calls happen in the app, not in a link to somewhere else.

  • Matching and discovery

Avatars, questions, preferences and discovery toggles, with chat that opens after a match.

Better matches from questions and preferences than from a camera roll.

  • Faith and habit companions

Daily content, journals, quizzes, goals and histories, scheduled from an admin.

Daily content and reminders arrive ahead of the moment, every day.

  • Subscriptions, coupons and monetisation

Plans and coupons in the API with payment webhooks, as on My Places.

A paid tier runs inside the API when you want one.

  • Moderation admin

Reports, bans, question banks, interests and analytics managed by the team, not the developers.

Your team handles reports and bans without calling a developer.

How it ships

How a community or companion app ships with us.

The path Regive, My Places, Stumble, Path to Water, Spirit Check and Remin Diary took, from the daily loop to an app people open tomorrow.
