In short

Travel products live in sequences. A booking is outbound, return, passengers, transfer and payment, and every step loses someone. A trip is a group that leaves together and arrives separately. Book My Trip and TrackPal each solved one of those, and the bilingual and payment work from our other sectors carries straight into hotel and tour sites.

What the sector asks of software

Three things every travel build has to get right.

Each one is drawn from a project on this site, not from a sector report.
01

Booking is a sequence, and every step loses people

Book My Trip takes a traveller from the outbound trip to the return, the passengers and any transfer, then completes the order in five screens, with sign in by phone number and OTP.

Book My Trip

02

A group leaves together and arrives separately

TrackPal lets users sync contacts, create a group, send invitations, choose a destination on the map and start a trip. Members follow it live and get notified along the way.

03

Hospitality sites have to work in Arabic

The bilingual approach we used on Diyafah, Ghezlan and Modon carries straight into hotel and tour sites: two editions, built right to left from the start.

BOOK MY TRIP

A travel booking app for outbound and return trips, passenger selection, transfers and order completion, with OTP sign in.

Book My Trip takes a traveller from a search to a confirmed order: choose the outbound trip, the return, the passengers and any transfer, then complete the order. Sign in is by OTP, and the API handles trips, bookings and verification.

Sector notes

What building travel apps has taught us.

Two travel products, one for the booking and one for the journey, plus the bilingual site work hospitality draws on. These are the things we would say to a tour operator, a transport company or a hotel group before the first sprint.

01

Five screens from search to confirmed order

Book My Trip takes a traveller from a search to a confirmed order in five screens: choose the outbound trip, choose the return, select the passengers, add any transfer, complete the order. Sign in is by phone number and OTP, so there is no password to forget at an airport, and the Node.js API handles trips, bookings and verification.

Transfers are added to the same booking rather than a second checkout, which is the kind of detail that decides whether a traveller finishes. Every extra screen in a booking flow is a place to lose a customer, so the sequence was designed to be as short as the information allowed and no shorter.

02

A group leaves together and arrives separately

TrackPal is built for the moment a group sets off. Users sync their contacts, create a group, send invitations, choose a destination on the map and start a trip. Members follow the trip live and get notifications along the way. Three steps, group, destination, start, cover the whole setup.

It is a React Native app with Redux Saga, maps and push notifications, chosen for a product whose value is entirely in location and timing. The same patterns, maps, groups and live status, apply to transfers, tours and airport pickups.

03

Hospitality in the Gulf is bilingual by default

A hotel, a tour operator or a destination site in the region has to work in Arabic and English with equal care. The approach we used on Diyafah, Ghezlan and Modon Holding, two editions designed right to left from the first commit with their own content and typography, carries directly into hospitality sites, with enquiry and booking flows the team runs themselves from a CMS.

Payments inside a booking follow the pattern from our marketplaces and stores: Stripe or PayTabs confirming by webhook, saved cards where a guest returns, and nothing trusted from the client.

04

Operators need the booking to reach their own systems

A travel app is only useful if the booking it takes is the booking the operator fulfils. Book My Trip's Node.js API owns trips, bookings, passengers, transfers and OTP verification, and it is the layer where an operator's inventory, pricing and transfer partners connect, so the app and the back office read the same record rather than reconciling two.

Notifications close the loop. TrackPal pushes trip updates to every member of a group, and the same push and SMS patterns we use on Teachers Lunch tell a traveller when a transfer is confirmed or a pickup is on its way. The traveller should never have to call to find out what the system already knows.

What we build

From the search to the arrival.

Each capability below has shipped in a travel product or in the bilingual and payment work the sector draws on.
Explain your project
  • Booking apps

Outbound, return, passengers and transfers in one order, with OTP sign in and a trip and booking API.

A traveller completes outbound, return, passengers and transfer in five screens.

  • Group travel and location

Contacts synced, groups created, destinations chosen on a map, trips followed live with push.

A group follows the trip live and arrives together.

  • Transfers and add-ons

Transfers added to the same booking rather than a second checkout.

Transfers sell inside the booking, not in a second checkout.

  • Hotel and tour websites

Bilingual, content managed sites with enquiry and booking flows the team runs themselves.

Arabic and English editions the team runs from a CMS.

  • Maps and notifications

React Native and Flutter apps with maps, Redux Saga or sockets, and push on every change.

Travellers are told before they need to ask.

  • Payments in the booking

Card payments with webhook confirmation, following our Stripe and PayTabs work.

Cards confirm by webhook; saved cards for returning guests.
