Services · Custom software and business systems

The system that replaces the spreadsheet.

Every growing company runs on one spreadsheet nobody dares change. We replace it with a system that has permissions, an audit trail and a backup, without stopping the work while we do it.
Internal tools, customer portals, integrations between the systems you already pay for, and the modernisation of the ones that have stopped being maintainable.
Built for
Growing companies whose process has outgrown spreadsheets, email and the tools they were never meant to run on.
Typical timeline
A first usable slice in six to ten weeks; the system then grows release by release beside the old one.
What you own
Repositories, cloud accounts, databases and documentation, all in your name.

What you get

Software shaped to how the business actually works.

Where off the shelf stops fitting, this is what we build. We deliver custom software development in the UK for the business systems that off the shelf products do not fit: operations, approvals, pricing and reporting.
Explain your project
  • Node.js developers

APIs and services on the runtime most of the modern web runs on.

You get services your next hire can work on, documented and tested from the first sprint.

  • .NET developers

For companies already on Microsoft, where it fits the estate and the team.

Your IT team can run and extend what we build, because it fits the estate they already manage.

  • Python developers

Data pipelines, automation and the back ends behind AI features.

Your data moves without manual exports, and AI features have a back end to run on.

  • Java developers

Enterprise systems that have to run for a decade and be audited.

You get a system that passes an audit and is still running when the people who built it have moved on.

  • API development

Documented, versioned and secured, so the next integration is a day, not a project.

The next integration takes a day, not a month, because the contract is documented and versioned.

  • Systems integration

The CRM, the accounts package and the warehouse finally agreeing with each other.

Nobody retypes an order from one system into another, and the numbers agree at month end.

  • Legacy modernisation

Replacing the system everyone fears in stages, while it keeps running.

You retire the system everyone fears without a big bang cutover or a weekend of downtime.

  • Workflow automation

The approvals, hand-offs and chasing that currently live in email and WhatsApp.

Approvals stop living in email, and you can see where every request is stuck.

  • Database design

Schemas that survive the second year, with the reports you will want already possible.

The report you ask for in year two is possible without rebuilding the schema.

  • Cloud migration

From the server under the desk to infrastructure that is backed up, monitored and yours.

You get backups, monitoring and a documented setup instead of a server under a desk.

Who this is for

Three places custom software earns its keep.

Custom software is for when the process is the advantage, or when nothing on the market fits without a workaround worse than the spreadsheet. Three places it earns its keep. Most business systems we build need system integration with an ERP, a CRM or a website from day one.
01

The process is in a spreadsheet and three people's heads

We document how the work really flows, including the exceptions, then build the system around that. Permissions, history and a backup come as standard.

Exceptions documented first; that is where systems fail.

02

Your systems do not talk to each other

Orders retyped from one screen to another, reports built by hand every Monday. Integration is usually the highest return project a company has.

Usually the highest return project a company has.

03

The old system is holding the business back

Nobody dares upgrade it and the one person who understands it is leaving. We replace it in stages so nothing stops.

Replaced in stages, nothing stops.

Four phases, with the riskiest piece built first.

  1. 01DiscoverWe sit with the people who do the work, not only the people who manage it, and map the process including every exception. The exceptions are where systems fail.
  2. 02DesignData model and permissions before screens. The hardest integration or the ugliest edge case gets prototyped first, because that is where the estimate is wrong if it is wrong.
  3. 03BuildDelivered in slices the business can start using, with the old system still running beside it until each slice is trusted. No big bang cut-over.
  4. 04MeasureAdoption is the metric: who is using it, what they still do outside it, and what they ask for. That list drives the next release.

01

Payments

PURPOSE PAYMENT

A payments product where compliance was designed in from the first sprint, not discovered at the security review.

Payment work carries requirements that are far cheaper to design for than to retrofit: how data is stored, who is allowed to see it, and what has to be provable afterwards. Those were settled before the build started rather than bolted on when the review came around.

Real estate

MODON HOLDING

A corporate platform for a listed developer, built to survive an investor relations audit.

A listed company website is a disclosure surface, not a brochure. Governance documents, board changes and financial reporting all had to publish on a schedule, stay traceable and be correct in both languages, so the platform was built around approval and versioning rather than around the homepage.

Questions people ask before commissioning software.

Often you should, and we will say so.

If a product covers eighty percent of the process and the other twenty can bend, buy it. Custom software is for when the process is the competitive advantage, or when nothing on the market fits without a worse workaround than the spreadsheet.

Tell us what the business needs. We will tell you what to build first.
