Software for the people who hire, inspect and run the branches.

A recruitment platform where every application sits on a kanban board with history, a fire inspection app that replaces the clipboard with steps nobody can skip, a branch operations app for a multi site barbershop, and a shift platform for healthcare staff.
Four operational products are written up here. None of them is glamorous, and all of them are used every working day.

In short

Operational software is used every working day by people who did not choose it: recruiters moving candidates, inspectors walking a building, branch managers closing the till, nurses booking a shift. SeamFox, Morning Star, Chaps & Co and Distinct are four products where the measure of success was whether the paper process, the spreadsheet or the clipboard was finally retired.

What the sector asks of software

Three things every operations build has to get right.

Each one is drawn from a project on this site, not from a sector report.
01

A hiring pipeline is a board, not an inbox

SeamFox moves applications across a kanban with comments and status history, carries candidate languages, nationalities, education and certifications, and puts quizzes, crosswords and live chat between company and candidate inside the platform.

02

An inspection must be complete to be worth anything

Morning Star walks an inspector through visual inspection, system type, functional testing and required photos in order, records deficiencies, and closes with a digital signature. The building owner sees the summary.

Morning Star

03

Branches, roles and complaints are one system

Chaps & Co gives managers branch listings, users with roles and permissions, sales records and typed complaints with notifications, with sockets keeping every branch in step.

Recruitment

SEAMFOX

A recruitment platform with candidates, companies, jobs and applications on a kanban board, plus quizzes, crosswords, chat, feed and blog.

Seamfox gives companies a pipeline and candidates a profile worth filling in. Applications move across a kanban board with comments and status history; candidates carry languages, nationalities, education and certifications; and quizzes and crosswords sit alongside a feed, a blog and live chat to keep people engaged between applications.

Healthcare

DISTINCT

A healthcare workforce platform with a catalogue, shifts, bookings, incident reports, reviews, rewards and a design system shared by web and admin.

Distinct models the working life of healthcare staff: a catalogue of roles, shifts to book, incidents to report, reviews and rewards after the fact, with notifications and broadcasts to keep everyone informed. The web app and admin share one design system, and the mobile app sits on the same API.

Sector notes

What building operations software has taught us.

Four products across recruitment, inspection, branch operations and staffing. These are the things we would say to an HR team, a compliance firm or a multi branch operator before the first sprint.

01

A hiring pipeline is a board with history

SeamFox gives companies a pipeline and candidates a profile worth filling in. Applications move across a kanban board with comments and status history, so every decision has a trail. Candidates carry languages, nationalities, education and certifications as structured data rather than a PDF, and quizzes and crosswords sit inside the platform as assessments alongside a feed, a blog and live chat between company and candidate.

The API is NestJS with MongoDB, with queues for the heavy work and sockets for chat, behind a web front end. Recruitment software that is an inbox with tags fails at the second hire; a board with history is what a hiring manager can defend.

02

An inspection is only worth something when it is complete

Morning Star replaces the clipboard for fire sprinkler and detector inspections. An inspector walks a building through visual inspection, system type, functional testing and required photos, in order, with no step skippable. Deficiencies are recorded as they are found and a digital signature closes the inspection on the device. Building owners complete a profile, add their properties and see the inspection summary.

The Flutter app carries subscriptions for inspectors and owners, so the product funds itself. The design rule was simple: the app should make it impossible to hand over an incomplete inspection, because an incomplete inspection is a liability dressed as a report.

03

Branches, roles and complaints are one system

Chaps & Co runs several barbershop branches with many staff. The app gives managers branch listings, user management with roles and permissions, sales records and a complaints module with types and notifications, with a Next.js admin dashboard on the web and sockets keeping every branch in step. Who sees which branch, which sale and which complaint is decided per role.

Distinct brings the same discipline to healthcare staffing: a catalogue of roles, shifts to book, incidents to report, reviews and rewards afterwards, with a Flutter app, a Next.js web app and an admin sharing one design system on a NestJS API. Operations software earns its keep when a manager stops opening the spreadsheet.

What we build

From the first application to the signed inspection.

Each capability below has shipped for a recruiter, an inspection firm, a multi branch operator or a staffing provider.
Explain your project
  • Recruitment platforms

Kanban pipelines with history, candidate profiles, assessments, feeds and chat, on a NestJS API with queues and sockets.

Every application sits on a board with its history and its assessments.

  • Field inspection apps

Guided steps that cannot be skipped, required photos, deficiencies, signatures and summaries shared with the client.

No inspection can be handed over incomplete.

  • Branch operations apps

Branches, staff, roles and permissions, sales records and complaints, with an admin dashboard and live updates.

Managers see their branches, sales and complaints by role, live.

  • Shift and workforce platforms

Role catalogues, shift booking, incident reports, reviews and rewards, as on Distinct.

Staff book shifts and report incidents from a phone.

  • Subscriptions for field tools

Inspector and owner tiers handled in app, so the product funds itself.

The product funds itself with inspector and owner tiers.

  • Role based admin

Who sees which branch, which sale and which complaint, decided per role.

Who sees which branch and which sale is decided once, per role.

How it ships

How an operations product ships with us.
